STOP Illinois FOCA -- Coalition To Defeat HB6205

Contact Your State Rep

Illinois State CapitolThe most critical component of our campaign to stop HB6205 is contacting members of the Illinois House of Representatives in Springfield and telling them to vote NO on HB6205. The entire House needs to learn that the vast majority Illinoisans are opposed to this radical pro-abortion legislation.

Key points for your State Rep

Some of our state reps are pro-life. Some are committed to the abortion lobby. But many who call themselves “pro-choice” will vote against HB6205 because it is so far out of the mainstream. That’s why it’s critical that we emphasize three key points when speaking to legislators about this bill:

  • HB6205 would block any and all common-sense restrictions on abortion.
  • HB6205 will require taxpayers to pay for thousands of abortions.
  • HB6205 would mandate comprehensive sex-ed for our children.

A more comprehensive analysis of HB6205 is available, but the above points should be emphasized with State Reps whenever you talk to them about this bill.

Important: Be sure to refer to this bill by its number—HB6205—when you talk to your State Rep. They won’t know the bill as “Illinois FOCA” because that’s not what they have on their desks.

How to contact your State Rep

  1. Find your representative’s contact info from the State Board of Elections here. Select the “By Address” tab, and enter your complete address to get your State Rep’s phone, fax and mailing address.
  2. Call your representative. Most likely you will have to leave a message: “Vote NO on HB 6205!” Also be sure to leave your address so the Rep knows you’re a constituent.
  3. Visit your representative at their district or Springfield office—both if you can. Call ahead and set up an appointment. During your meeting, emphasize the three key points above and ask your Rep to vote NO HB 6205.
  4. Fax your representatives. In your fax, include your address so it’s clear you’re a consituent, and emphasize the three points above. End with a clear request to vote NO on HB 6205.
